Short biography
R. William Chapman II
R. William Chapman II is a constitutional lawyer, former U.S. Marine Corps judge advocate, and the author of Empyrean. He served in Afghanistan as an operational law and detention officer. He writes nonfiction as Ronald W. Chapman II and discusses law, government, and politics on Off Air.
Book synopsis
Empyrean
In Bavaria in 1945, an American captain recovering from a wound learns of a concentration camp whose surviving prisoners need urgent care. He joins a mission with Sabina, a French nurse, and Chaplain Pierson, under Major Lindley’s command. Inside the camp, Jewish poet Ionel Abramovich is forced to assist Dr. Josef Burg in experiments on prisoners. Ionel and his wife, Esther, search for their daughter while he tries to keep his family alive through his work for the doctor.
